Final Weekend Reminder!

Team Soc,

Remember to thoughtfully respond to the final social stratification reflection questions. This is the last grade for the quarter.

This weekend is also a good time to prep for your final exam. However, if you do not have time to prep for the exam, we will have time in class at the beginning of the week to field questions before the exam.

For Monday, these are the questions you need to answer individually and submit via Drive:

• Is Modernization or Dependency Theory more accurate? Why?
• Should we desire total societal equality? 
• Read about Marx’s perspective and Vonnegut’s perspective through his short story "Harrison Bergeron". Do either of these pictures impact your perspective?
• If all societies have stratification, should we think about inequality as morally wrong (like whom?)? How should we think of social stratification from a Christian perspective?
• How much of your family’s social position is based on merit and how much on caste (do your best to estimate)? Why do you think this is the case? What do you attribute to merit? What do you attribute to caste?
• What do you think about your ability to climb the socio-economic ladder (considering birth and merit)?
